Johanninger Biebelsheimer Honigberg Spätburgunder 2018
€29.00 Incl. VAT
The German name for Pinot Noir, “Spätburgunder” (literal translation: “late Burgundy”), refers to the grape variety’s origin in Burgundy, where it has been cultivated as far back as late Roman times.
The Biebelsheimer Honigberg vineyards of Weingut Johanninger are ideal for Spätburgunder, with terraces of fertile Loess soil (the wind-borne sediment of silt and fine sand, cemented by calcium carbonate and compacted over time), that help develop maximum intensity of the finest Burgundy aromas of warm dark fruits, damp earth and spices.
Aged for 24 months in a blend of new and old oak, this showpiece Pinot Noir has an impressive nose of the finest Burgundy aromas that pulls you into the glass. Warm fruit, damp earth, and lovely hints of vanilla with well-integrated wood. Full and rich with a lot of texture and mild acidity, this wine has good structure and elegant tannins, ending on a long finish.
