Organic wines from Provence without the use of pesticides

Domaine du Bourrian is the oldest of nine vineyards in the municipality of Gassin on the peninsula of Saint-Tropez in France. The region is glamorous and world-famous, known for its many hours of sunshine and gentle sea breezes, which also make this beautiful area suitable for viticulture.

The wines from Domaine du Bourrian have won numerous awards at prestigious wine competitions in France, and the vineyard produces only organic wines. There are two processes in particular that help to make the wines from Domaine du Bourrian something special: the vineyards where the organic grapes grow, and the winery, where the wines mature and are bottled.

The grapes are grown without the use of synthetic agents, so the vineyards have become part of a natural and self-sufficient ecosystem that does not need pesticides. The tasty wines from Domaine du Bourrian contain fewer sulfites than non-organic wines, which you as a wine connoisseur can no doubt both taste and will appreciate!

Domaine du Bourrian cherishes the traditional taste and aroma that characterize the wines of Provence, while the vineyard helps to improve the way the grapes are grown in the area.

Beautiful and luminous light pink color. The nose is expressive and full of candy with aromas of raspberry, wild strawberry and crispy notes. The palate is full and round with a long finish offering pleasant notes of red currant.

Wine from Domaine du Bourrian

Wine production for 150 years

On the way to Saint-Tropez, the long rows of tall sycamore trees lead the way to Domaine du Bourrian. The first references to Bourrian can be dated to the year 1055 and was found in the abbey of Saint-Victor de Marseille.

The vineyard’s impressive stone walls were created 150 years ago and have since formed the framework of the successful, traditional wines from Provence.

In 2015, the new owners began a three-year project to renovate the property and production facilities to restore the winery’s old traditions. During the process, the unique expression and equipment of the old buildings have been retained as a contrast to the modern technology and advanced equipment used today to produce wine.

Every year, Domaine du Bourrian produces up to 250,000 bottles of wine, which are stored under the most optimal conditions. As part of the winery’s renovation, the buildings that previously housed the old wooden barrels and tanks have been transformed into atmospheric spaces where events and wine tastings can be held. Visitors can also enjoy the wines outdoors on the beautiful terraces under the old, shady sycamore trees.

The vineyard's Côtes-de-Provence wines

The Domaine du Bourrian winery is located at the foot of the Gassin mountains on the Saint-Tropez peninsula. Here, the earth is heated by the sun’s warm rays while the sea breeze provides moisture to the grapes and helps to create their unique taste and aroma. The 24 hectares of vineyards are dedicated to wines with the appellation Côtes-de-Provence and IGP. They are grown without the use of pesticides and have organic certification.

Organic rosé from Provence

The Grenache (Grenache Noir), Cinsaut, Syrah and Tibouren grape varieties create the winery’s delicate and tasty organic rosé wines according to the classic traditions of Provence.

Harvest is an important time for any winemaker. At Domaine du Bourrian this is no exception. The grapes are allowed to ripen until they have reached the right amount of sugar and are most often ready for harvest in early September. Early in the morning, before the sun rises, the cool grapes are carefully picked and transported into the winery. Next, the grapes are cooled again before being gently pressed. This helps to raise the quality of Domaine du Bourrian’s fresh organic rosé wine from Provence.
